Our boys... should get married....
“Our
boys, when they arrive at years of maturity and can take earn of a
wife, should get married, and there should not be a lot of young men
growing up in our midst who ought to be, but are not married. While I do
not make the remark to apply to individual cases, I am firmly of the
opinion that a large number of unmarried men, over the age of
twenty-four years, is a dangerous element in any community, and an
element upon which society should look with a jealous eye. For every man
knowing himself, knows how his fellow-man is constituted; and if men do
not marry, they are too apt to do something worse. Then, brethren,
encourage our young men to marry, and see that they are furnished
employment, so that they can marry.”

New and Continuing Revelation
Bruce R.McConkie’s famous quote sums up the attitude of most Latter-day Saints today regarding new and continuing revelation:
“Forget everything that I have said, or what President Brigham Young or President George Q. Cannon or whomsoever has said in days past that is contrary to the present revelation. We spoke with a limited understanding and without the light and knowledge that now has come into the world. We get our truth and our light line upon line and precept upon precept. We have now had added a new flood of intelligence and light on this particular subject, and it erases all the darkness and all the views and all the thoughts of the past. They don’t matter any more. . . . It is a new day.”

Judah and Joseph
"Before Joseph Smith was killed, he dispatched a Jewish apostle by the name of Orson Hyde to dedicate the land of Palestine for the return of the Jews. This concern for a homeless people and the sending of this apostle was done at a time when the Mormons themselves were virtually homeless, having been dispossessed of their lands and possessions in Missouri. "Orson Hyde left on his assignment in the fall of 1840. He arrived in Palestine in October 1841. On October 24, 1841, he ascended the Mount of Olives all alone, built an altar to the Lord, and offered a dedicatory prayer."
